Stormy weather battered the north and north-east over the weekend, with strong wind ripping an oil platform from a pier in Shetland.
Over the weekend, a yellow warning had been issued for the whole of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, as well as a huge part of the Highlands.
And the effects of the weather were keenly felt in Lerwick, where the Buchan Alpha oil platform broke free from the pier due to the conditions.
Lerwick Port Authority staff arrived on scene at around 9.30am on the pilot boat Knab to assess the situation.
The platform could be seen sitting in the water opposite Dales Voe near to land at Gott.
Various streets in the north-east were affected by standing water, with areas such as the A92 Johnshaven to St Cyrus road, A948 Auchnagatt to New Deer road and areas around Oldmeldrum most seriously affected.
The Highlands were also hit with motorists near Golspie having to battle flooding and surface water.
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) has put an amber alert in place for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
The warning said rivers throughout the region are expected to rise due to prolonged rain today.
It added: “Potential impacts could include localised flooding of land and roads, including individual properties, particularly in southern areas of the region.”
The Met Office also issued advice to motorists that “further heavy rain may cause some flooding and disruption to travel”.
About an inch of rainfall is expected to fall through the course of the day, and up to three inches at the most exposed high ground.
It added: “Strong east to north-easterly winds are also expected, particularly near coasts where gusts of 50mph are likely during this afternoon.”
