Revised opening hours of three north-east minor injury units will come into effect next week.

Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership carried out a review of the services provided at nine minor injurity units (MIUs) and the integration joint board agreed earlier this year to cut the hours of three.

The hours at the Aboyne, Stonehaven and Turriff departments have been cut to reflect usage.

From Monday, the units at Aboyne Hospital and the Kincardine Community Hospital in Stonehaven will be open from 8am to 10pm seven days a week.

Turriff MIU will open from 8am to 6pm seven days a week.

The partnership also announced that there would be no change to the hours at the Huntly MIU in Jubilee Hospital.

A statement issued by the AHSCP on Facebook detailing the change in hours highlights the limited issues that staff at MIUs can deal with.

The post reads: “Minor injury units can only treat minor injuries that are less than 72 hours old and can only treat children over the age of one year.

“MIUs cannot treat illness and should you become unwell out of hours and cannot see your GP then please call NHS 24 on 111.
