Women across the north-east are being urged to attend an event to discuss workplace menopause policies and experiences.
Aberdeenshire East MSP Gillian Martin has arranged a meeting on November 16 for local women after previously calling on employers to ensure there is support for those going through the menopause.
Ms Martin has previously written to both NHS Grampian and Aberdeenshire Council to find out about the support they offer, and is now broadening her discussions by inviting locals to get involved.
She hopes elected representatives, representatives from NHS Grampian and residents from her constituency will share their experiences and ideas for improvement.
Discussion will focus on how workplaces can better support woman experiencing peri-menopausal or menopausal symptoms and call on businesses to introduce specific policies.
Ms Martin said she felt the discussion was “overdue”, adding: “It is essential that women who are experiencing the menopause feel there is effective support and that they will be treated sensitively and seriously.”
The event will be held on November 16 from 10am-noon in the Barra Suite in Unit 6, Colpy Business Park, Oldmeldrum. For more information, call 01651 871750 or e-mail gillian.martin.msp@parliament.scot
