A potential shake-up of school holidays in Aberdeen should be shelved for the next five years, council education bosses have recommended.
Proposals were put forward earlier in the year to move the summer holidays forward by a week to align with other councils.
Aberdeen is one of only six local authorities in Scotland where the summer term continues into July.
In May, the authority decided to put the plan off after pressure from parents, vowing to carry out another consultation on the issue next year.
But new papers to next week’s education committee recommend councillors keep the status quo until 2025.
A fresh consultation was carried out last month, with more than 6,000 responding and a clear majority not wishing any change.
A report to councillors notes: “A summary of responses suggests that there is no appetite to change the timing of the school holiday pattern and this has informed the recommendation.”
SNP education spokesman David Cameron said: “I can’t see any good reason to change it.”
Education convener John Wheeler added: “As with all things, there will be people who are happy and others who are disappointed, but I think it is important we follow the results of the consultation and go with what the majority have asked for.”
Councillors will make a final decision at committee on Tuesday.
