A freelance illustrator and graphic designer has been commissioned to spruce up empty shops in Peterhead.
Artventure – a non-profit organisation that promotes art and culture in the town – has arranged for Kalina Zatoń to create window decals to add some colour.
The first of these decals will be based on the past history of Peterhead, with the second tranche drawing inspiration from the present-day town.
The public were encouraged to have their say on the first stages of this project by sharing any fond memories they have of the Blue Toon with Ms Zatoń.
Artventure shared their progress on their Facebook and said: “Many thanks to everyone for their positive comments.
“We’ve actioned some of them and our designer has lots of extra material. Once this stage is complete we’re moving on to stage two which is “Peterhead in the present”.
“The aim of our project is to create interesting decals for some of the empty shop windows on the theme of ‘Hidden Treasures Of Peterhead’.”
Councillor Dianne Beagrie said: “I’m pleased to see this coming forward and while I would rather the shops were occupied this will improve the overall look of the vacant premises while work is on going to try and attract shop owners.”
Those who wish to share their ideas for this project are encouraged to contact Artventure at info@artventure.org.uk or by messaging the Artventure Facebook page.
