Inquiries are being carried out in Turriff after a man’s body was found.
The discovery was made shortly after 9am near the Haughs, at the Burn of Turriff.
Police cordoned off the area, including the area known locally as the Den, as an investigation began.
The death is so far being treated as unexplained and efforts are being made to establish what happened to the man.
A spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a body of a man was discovered at the Burn of Turriff, Aberdeenshire, around 9.10am on Sunday, November 17.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
A doctor’s car was seen leaving the Haughs area shortly before lunchtime.
On social media, members of the community posted messages sending love to the unknown man’s family for their loss.
