Police have launched a manhunt after reports that a woman was followed by a man carrying a knife in Aberdeen this morning.
The incident is thought to have happened at around 8.45am in the Albyn Lane area of the city.
Police say the woman was walking along the road when she became aware of a man approaching her holding a knife. She screamed and the man ran off towards Albyn Grove, away from the city centre. No-one was injured.
Officers would like to trace a white man described as being in his 30-40s, 5ft 7in and of medium build.
He was unshaven with dark hair and wearing a bright blue padded jacket which also has darker areas of blue on it with the hood up and dark trousers.
Sergeant Julie Smith, of Aberdeen Whinhill Police Station, said: “This was a frightening experience for the woman and our inquiries are ongoing to trace the person responsible.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
