A north-east community got into the festive spirit by making all sorts of knitted Christmas decorations.
People of all ages from Peterhead came together to make over 150 knitted, sewn and crocheted items to decorate the Christmas tree with outside of the town house ahead of the Light Up Peterhead event today.
Peterhead Social Knitwork group teamed up with Longate Community Drop-in and also appealed for volunteers to help decorate this year’s Christmas tree.
Members of the public were also asked to lend a helping hand to donate craft materials to the Longate.
Isobel Arthur-Robertson of Longate Community Drop-in helped co-ordinate all the knitting involved.
She said: “The response and community involvement this year was absolutely fantastic. I’d like to say thanks to everyone who was involved with this, there’s just too many people to thank individually but the response was just brilliant.”
Chairwoman of Light Up Peterhead, Jackie Matthew was also “delighted” with the response. She said: “I was really pleased to see different community groups coming together for this.”
“There’s a lot of work that’s went into this year’s event and we’ve had a lot of support too. I want to say thanks for everyone that was involved and I hope everyone has a good time at the main event.”
