One of Rod Stewart’s biggest fans is hoping that her idol will don a special pair of socks she knitted for him when he plays a major show in Aberdeen next month.
Ida Donnachie, 90, will be travelling from her home in Conon Bridge, near Dingwall, to see the music legend perform at the new P&J Live.
The pensioner will prove that age is no barrier to having a good time as she plans to rival 74-year-old Stewart’s energy by dancing the night away.
But Mrs Donnachie harbours another, more unique ambition, for the evening on Saturday, December 7.
Earlier this year, it emerged that the Maggie May singer carries a minimum of 50 fresh pairs of socks to each gig so he always has plenty of choice over which ones to wear.
And he also revealed that he likes to keep his toes toasty during the winter months by wearing cosy pairs to bed.
Mrs Donnachie, who is originally from Tain, is no stranger to socks – having knitted hundreds on behalf of the Guide Dogs charity.
And when the 90-year-old heard about Stewart’s love for the items she decided to make him a pair reflecting one of his greatest passions in life.
Speaking last night, as her favourite musician’s festive album Merry Christmas, Baby played in the background, she said: “I started the socks about two or three weeks ago.
“Rod supports Celtic so that’s the design that I went for, they’re green and really do stand out.
“We’re hopefully going to give him the socks before the concert – imagine if he wore them on stage, that would make my night.”
Mrs Donnachie last saw the rocker in Inverness in 2010 when he played at the Inverness Caledonian Thistle stadium so has waited nearly a decade to see him in the flesh again.
She added that Sailing is the song she’ll most be looking forward to hearing when she attends the concert with her daughter.
The gig had been rescheduled as a result of windy and rainy weather the month before.
