Sleeting Beauty and Gritty Gritty Bang Bang were among the top names chosen by kids for Aberdeenshire’s fleet of gritters.
Pupils and staff from the 152 schools across the north-east took part in a competition to name the 32 gritting vehicles.
The winning suggestions were picked out from the six local areas, with Plougher O’ Scotland and Gritney Gears coming out on top.
Grittings Got Talent, The Grittinator, Grit-Zilla, Grita Thawberg, Haddo Nuff O the Sna, Frosty the Snow Van and Grit The Road Jack were also among the creative names that impressed the judges.
The council’s fleet of 54 gritters, support vehicles, and more than 200 roads staff are preparing to keep the area moving and ensure residents and businesses can travel and operate as normal in potentially challenging conditions.
Philip McKay, Aberdeenshire Council’s head of roads, said: “The primary road network receives preventative treatment with gritters and ploughs starting a morning treatment at 5.30am and finishing an evening treatment no later than 9pm when necessary.
“To reduce instances of unnecessary gritting, sub-zero road temperatures need to be forecast for 48 hours before priority three roads are treated.”
