Aberdeenshire Council has made “no decision” on replacing bridges which were damaged beyond repair in recent flooding.
The local authority is progressing with its schedule of emergency repairs to damaged rural bridges following the torrential rain which caused chaos in parts of the region in September.
A number of bridges were damaged or totally washed away by the storm, with the King Edward area being badly affected.
The council previously stated its intention to have the bridges at Fortrie, Bruntyards and North Litterty repaired by the end of the year.
And officers advised that discussions were continuing about the structures at Millcroft, Gorrachie and Mill of Balmaud.
But it was yesterday confirmed that there are no plans as of yet to replace any of the ones that were destroyed.
Structures manager for Aberdeenshire Council, Donald Macpherson, said: “Repairs are currently ongoing at the Bridge of Bo on the U85L which was severely damaged but repairable.
“Some works to remove debris from the collapsed parts of the remaining damaged bridges will be undertaken once resources are available, however at present no decision has been taken regarding the replacement of the remaining structures which were so severely damaged.”
Work has also been carried out on Auchmill Bridge at King Edward which was damaged during a road accident prior to the flooding.
Permanent steps have also been installed adjacent to Banff Bridge to improve safety.
