A graffiti gang is blighting a leafy Aberdeen street.
Writing, matching a ‘tag’ used by a gang, has appeared on a number of lampposts and electrical substations on the city’s Fountainhall Road.
Hazlehead, Queens Cross and Countesswells councillor Martin Greig slammed the vandals and said he had contacted council officers about the mess being removed.
He said: “The graffiti wave in the area is offensive and unpleasant.
“Graffiti creates a real sense of unease in the community. I am keen to have this removed as soon as possible.
“The problem is that if it is left in place for a period of time, graffiti gives an unwelcome impression of neglect or disorder.
“This damage is never acceptable and has to be dealt with quickly.
“The cost of cleaning the mess can be considerable and this extra unwanted work adds pressure onto the public purse.
“It is often possible to identify the wrongdoer from the style of the writing and the design. Hopefully, the individuals involved will be identified quickly and action taken.”
