The number of operations undertaken by the NHS in the north-east has risen drastically this year, new data has shown.
NHS Grampian carried out 3,558 more procedures in the first 10 months of 2019 than the same period last year, and 3,958 more than in 2017.
In addition, only 7.9% of planned operations were cancelled, compared to 8.5% in Scotland as a whole.
NHS Grampian’s general manager for surgery, Cameron Matthew, said: “These positive results are down to the hard work of staff across the region and the efforts they go to to ensure patients are given the best care and treatment.”
He added: “Going forward we will look to maintain these figures and strive to find more innovative ways to build on them further.”
