Dialysis patients have been given a festive boost from a north-east union.
Kincardine Community Hospital’s long-awaited £1.5million dialysis unit opened in August, after a huge fundraising mission by the community.
It offers dialysis for up to six patients in mornings and afternoons three days a week, and means patients across Kincardine and the Mearns no longer have to travel to Aberdeen for treatment.
And now Unite the union’s catering branch have added some cheer to the unit, by donating its first Christmas tree along with a variety of talking books.

Patient Angus Simpson thanked the union for their help as he and other patients met with Unite’s Isabelle Sutherland yesterday.
He said: “We didn’t have a Christmas tree until now – it’s really nice to see.
“Dialysis can be a hard process and it is wee things like this that really do cheer up the experience.
“The wifi is not brilliant in the ward so the talking books also make treatment that bit easier.”
