Santa greeted by large crowds as he sails into Fraserburgh

SANTA ARRIVES IN THE BROCH ON THE LIFEBOAT.
SANTA ARRIVES IN THE BROCH ON THE LIFEBOAT.

More than 150 people gathered on the shore as Fraserburgh RNLI lifeboat delivered a special passenger to the north-east.

The Willie and May Gall picked up Santa en-route to the harbour to take part in a fun-filled community day.

Once ashore, he was greeted by the large crowd and piped to his waiting sleigh by the members of Fraserburgh RBL Pipe Band.

The town’s coastguard rescue team and the band then led him to his festive grotto at Cheers Cafe, Bar and Tavern.

Vic Sutherland, coxswain and mechanic at the RNLI lifeboat, said the event was “very, very good” in spite of the weather.

He said: “We had a fantastic turnout. There must have been more than 150 people waiting for our special visitor at the quay.

“The parade through the town centre for excellent, with everyone following us to the grotto, where about 100 children were able to meet Santa.

“It was a great success considering the weather – as shortly after the parade the heavens opened and it didn’t stop.

“We thank everyone who was involved and came to see Santa.”

Applications to take part in the Fraserburgh RNLI Lifeboat station’s Boxing Day harbour swim are also open.

Participants should be aged 12 and above, with money raised going to support the Swim or Sink SOS appeal.

To join the 46 swimmers already signed-up, call the station on 01346 515162 or email fraserburgh@rnli.org.uk for details.
