Volunteers from Cycling Without Age are hoping to secure £5,000 of funding from councillors today.
The group is hoping to buy a second trishaw, which allows people with mobility issues to get out and about and enjoy the fresh air.
Today, members of the Kincardine and Mearns area committee will be asked to support the group with a grant from the top-up budget.
Local groups have already rallied around the project, with donations flooding in from Stonehaven Cycling Club and Stonehaven Lion Clubs as well as individuals.
The group’s first trishaw was on show at the recent Christmas tree switch-on to let people see how their donations can help people enjoy a bike ride, powered by volunteer “pilots”.
Cycling Without Age is also working to raise money for a storage shed and hi-vis vests for the riders.
The annual licence and insurance totals £300 and will be covered by the local care homes, and Bike Remedy are providing maintenance and repairs free of charge.
The community trishaw will be available to the elderly, children with additional support needs and those with significant mobility issues in the town.
