The stage has been set for the north-east’s most anticipated Hogmanay event to be “bigger and better than ever” this year.
The Stonehaven Fireballs Association was one of two organisations to recently benefit from additional funding through the Kincardine and Mearns committee.
The group asked for £3,025 to put towards funding 12 stewards, 12 people with first aid training, one ambulance and additional fireworks – but members got even more than they requested.
Councillors agreed to give the committee a total of £4,250.
Chairman of the association, Ross Milne, said: “We’re going to have more event staff, such as security and paramedics.
“We’re hoping to have more fireworks this year as well – but not too many to take away from the fireballs of course.
“I’ve been watching the event since I was a kid. It has always been brilliant and this year will be even better.”
