A Christmas card inspired by the battle against plastic pollution has won a competition run by a north-east politician.
The design created by Port Elphinstone P7 pupil, Stella Angus, will now be included on scores of emails which Aberdeenshire East MSP, Gillian Martin, is sending out over the festive period to constituents, colleagues and even the first minister.
The SNP politician decided against posting cards in order to “reduce her carbon footprint” and was impressed with the eco-friendly message of Stella’s design.
The MSP said: “The standard of Christmas cards was extremely high again this year and the artistic talent in our primary schools is there for all to see.
“It was really tough picking a winner, but Stella’s design caught my eye, had a great message about protecting the environment with our Christmas decoration choices, and it looks brilliant on my Christmas card.”
Runners up were Taisy Brett from Fyvie Primary School and Elena Noble from Ellon Parish Church Sunday School.
