Parents demanding answers on the possible reopening of a “temporarily closed” Aberdeenshire school will have to wait longer to learn what its future holds.
Children were sent home “stinking of kerosene” and parents, whose children are now being taught at Rhynie School, have raised fears about whether the building will ever return to use.
Marr area committee discussed the matter in private this week but chairwoman, Moira Ingleby, said no decisions were reached.
She said: “I’d like to start by underlining that the meeting was not about making any final decision on the future of the school.
“We have agreed to bring a more detailed options appraisal back to committee for discussion by members at a later date.
“It is important that we get this right – not only in terms of providing the best educational experiences for our young people but also in terms of achieving best value for money and the best outcomes for our communities.”
Head of education, Vincent Docherty, added: “We are committed to continuing to engage with parents and the wider public.
“Our first priority remains the safety and wellbeing of children and staff.”
A further public meeting will be scheduled next year.
