A new group has started in Inverurie to boost people’s chances of securing employment after spending years acting as carers.
The Aberdeenshire Council scheme aims to support people in their efforts to achieve accredited skills, while also boosting their confidence before entering the workplace.
Four learners have secured work since starting the course.
They have acquired new skills, developed their confidence and learned to promote themselves and “understand their value and worth” to employers.
The council’s community learning and development group has now started holding drop-in sessions in Kemnay to focus on adult learning, with a particular focus on IT skills.
Topics covered in these sessions have included emailing, using the internet safely, streaming and downloading, and using Microsoft applications.
