The remains of a man reported missing from Peterhead earlier this year have been found in Denmark.
Aivars Kajaks was last spotted in the Broad Place area of Peterhead in early August.
Police launched a major search to track him down, including the use of specialised sonar equipment and dive teams around Peterhead harbour, but by the start of October the inquiry was scaled back.
This afternoon, police have confirmed Mr Kajaks’ remains were found in Denmark.
A police statement said: “Officers were alerted to a discovery at a beach by authorities in Denmark and remains have subsequently been confirmed as belonging to Aivars Kajaks.
“The 44-year-old was reported missing in August.
“There doesn’t appear to be any suspicious circumstances, his family has been informed and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
