Nearly 500 homes and businesses in Aberdeen were left without electricity this evening because of power cuts.
SSE, the company responsible for maintaining the electricity network, said 496 customers were left in the dark after a high voltage fault.
But the operator had the lights back on within 50 minutes of the problem being reported at around 5.05pm.
A spokeswoman said: “We don’t know the cause of the fault as our priority was reconnecting those affected.
“We will continue to investigate.”
Properties in Hardgate, Riverside Drive, Fonthill Road, Ferryhill Road and Holburn Street were among those hit by the sudden outages.
The outage also affected traffic lights in the city centre.
Aberdeen City Council tweeted to issue a warning signals were not working.
Due to a power cut in the area, the traffic lights at the junction of Union Street and Market Street are currently out. Powers is not expected to be restored until around 8 pm
