A man has died after a crash near Stonehaven tonight.
Emergency services were called to the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road, at the Lumgair junction, just before 5pm.
Police confirmed a man died at the scene while another was cut free from the wreckage of his vehicle.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash.
A fire spokeswoman said: “We were called at 4.47pm and the stop message came back at 5.57pm.
“There was one male fatality.
“One male casualty was extricated from his vehicle.
“The crews then made the scene safe.”
The man firefighters cut free from the wreckage was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
The A90 is closed in both directions, with traffic diverted along the A92.
A police spokesman said: “Police are currently in attendance following a serious road crash between two vehicles on the A90 at the Lumgair junction, near Stonehaven.
“The crash happened around 5pm. A man has been pronounced dead at the scene.
“A man has been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.
“The road is closed in both directions at Stonehaven and diversions are in place.”
