Police have named the 80-year-old killed in a two-vehicle crash on the A90.
Eric Douglas was travelling alone in a Kia Rio car along the Aberdeen to Dundee road when he collided with another vehicle at the Lumgair junction, near Stonehaven, just before 5pm on Friday.
Mr Douglas died at the scene, while another was cut free from their vehicle and taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with “serious but not life-threatening” injuries.
The family of the Stonehaven man paid tribute to him in a statement released through the police.
They said: “Eric was a loving father, grandfather and friend to many who was well known in the local community. We are deeply saddened by his death and he will be greatly missed. As a family we respectfully ask for privacy at this difficult time.”
Police said inquiries are ongoing into the cause of the crash and officers are urging anyone who witnessed the incident and haven’t yet spoken to them to contact them on 101.
