An Aberdeen bus service has been re-routed over fears pensioners would be left “cut off” from the city centre.
Union Terrace will be closed southbound from Monday, January 27, until mid-November to allow works access as engineers complete a £26 million revamp of Union Terrace Gardens.
Midstocket and Rosemount councillor, Bill Cormie, raised concerns that this would affect bus routes, with services potentially using the Denburn instead of continuing through the city centre.
However, it has been confirmed that the number 3 service will now travel through Schoolhill and Broad Street to keep as close to its original route as possible.
Mr Cormie said: “I am pleased that the buses will be re-routed up Schoolhill, as I had real concerns around older folk being cut off from the city centre.
“The disruptions are unavoidable but this short inconvenience will still allow people to get into the town just as easily as before.”
