A Kintore teenager has admitted getting behind the wheel nearly four-times the limit on Christmas Day.
Zann Els yesterday admitted driving dangerously on the A96 Inverurie to Blackburn road, by swerving into the opposing carriageway and taking a roundabout at excessive speed – causing his car to crash into a verge.
He also broke the speed limit, swerved between lanes, crossed solid white lines, drove along hatching marks on the road and finally caused a collision in which his car was damaged.
Police caught up with the 18-year-old in Gauchhill Road in Kintore, around five minutes from his home in Castlefield Gardens.
When officers breathalysed Els, he had 80 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 22mcg.
His solicitor Liam McAllister told Aberdeen Sheriff Court: “These are serious matters.
“Dangerous driving and driving drunk, while nearly four times the limit.
“My client understands he will be disqualified ad interim.”
Sheriff Eric Brown ordered background reports ahead of sentencing Els next month.
He was banned from the road meantime.
