An Aberdeenshire community cinema has been awarded a five-figure cash boost to keep film buffs cosy in inclement weather.
Midmar Community Hall has taken delivery of a hi-tech screen and streaming equipment, thanks to donations and a £5,000 grant from Aberdeenshire Council.
Aberdeenshire West MSP Alexander Burnett hailed the latest windfall and its significance to the cinema project, entitled the Sound of Silence.
The Scottish Conservative energy spokesman also lodged a Holyrood motion welcoming the cash.
He said: “Midmar’s new equipment has allowed people from across the area to enjoy streamed concerts and the latest films in high definition.
“But the old fan heaters, stalwarts of village halls across Scotland, are too noisy and inefficient.
“This much-welcome grant will keep screenings and local meetings warm for years to come.”
