A north-east hotel has been named one of the best tourist hotspots in the world with a nomination for a prestigious prize.
The Fife Arms Hotel in Braemar has been shortlisted for the LCD Berlin awards, which recognises the globe’s leading cultural destinations.
The inn was built by the Duke of Fife in the 19th century, and was recently given a multi-million-pound refurbishment by its Swiss art dealer owners.
It has been named as one of venues in the running for the title of best art hotel, competing against L’arlatan in Arles, France, and Can 7 on the Balearic island of Formentera.
Berlin mayor Ramona Pop said: “I am pleased that the LCD Awards, considered the Oscars for museums, are being given to outstanding cultural destinations worldwide for the first time this year in Berlin.
“Culture and travel create deep connections between people, and Berlin is known for its rich cultural landscape and countless tourist attractions.”
The Fife Arms is one of only two Scottish destinations to be recognised among the awards’ 17 categories.
The V&A Dundee, designed by Kengo Kuma, has been nominated for best architecture of the year.
It is competing against the National Museum of Qatar in Doha and the Twist Gallery in Norway.
The winners will be announced on March 4.
