A Russian sea captain and his crew have been able to ride again following the donation of a bicycle from a north-east church.
Following the theft of his bicycle whist his ship was docked in Middlesbourgh, Captain Maxim Kruglov got in touch with Aberdeen port chaplain Doug Duncan who immediately set about procuring a new set of wheels.
Following a few phonecalls, one was sourced from St Peter’s Church in Aberdeen and then gifted to the returning ship.
Reverend Duncan said: “The crew were very happy to receive the bicycle after their own was taken from outside of a shop in Middlesbourgh.
“Fortunately, Father Gabor from St Peter’s Church had a spare one in his basement.
“As soon as we got it, we took it down to the seafarers the following afternoon.
“They were over the moon naturally and we were only too happy to help under the circumstances.”
