Work began in December on renovating the B-listed vinery and attached bothy at Duff House as both were on the Scottish Buildings at Risk Register. Work is urgently needed to make both safe, and permission has been granted to carry out emergency roof works. The council is now seeking builders to put on a new slate roof, stone pointing and install new roof lights to the bothy. The bothy contract has been released for £75,000 and will be for two months of work. Funds for the project came from the Scottish Government Town Centre Fund grant of £284,832. It is hoped to eventually create a public garden run by Scotland’s Association for Mental Health to link mental well-being and growing produce.
