The future of one of Aberdeen’s once vibrant community councils is in question after residents failed to come forward to join its committee.
Five members of Torry community council resigned in August last year, leaving the group below the minimum number of people required to run its meetings.
The council advised the earliest date for a by-election for re-establishment would be this month.
However, a spokesman said there have been no interested residents putting their names forward.
He added: “We are committed to supporting community councils and we acknowledge the importance that local communities play in shaping the future of their surrounding areas.
“In the case of Torry community council, Â at the time of their disbanding we advised their members on the process that would be required to re-establish the community council and the criteria that had to be met.
“This included the signing of a form to be submitted to Aberdeen City Council requesting for arrangements to re-establish the community council.
“To date, no form has been submitted from the residents within Torry.”
