A new community recycling initiative has been unveiled in Ballater.
Six new waste bins have been unveiled as part of the village’s ‘Recycling on the Go’ scheme.
Ballater Royal Deeside and Johnson Oils donated £2,000 to purchase the equipment, which can take drinks cans and plastic bottles on one side and litter and dog waste on the other.
For glass, residents and visitors are encouraged to use the communal glass recycling points.
Aberdeenshire Council’s waste manager, Ros Baxter, said: “Ballater is a popular village with visitors so it was the ideal location to create this scheme.
“We are encouraging people to make it a success to increase Ballater’s recycling and reduce the volume of waste going to landfill.”
Chairman of the council’s infrastructure service committee, Peter Argyle, added: “Whether a resident or a visitor to Ballater, everyone can do their bit to keep this beautiful community in pristine condition and recycle at the same time.”
