Aberdeenshire road to remain closed overnight after bus lands on its side

A single-decker bus has landed on its side as weather conditions begin to deteriorate in the north-east.

The incident occurred on the B9000 Ellon to Newburgh road at the A90 slip road for Newburgh at 6.42pm.

A police spokesman said there were no injuries to the driver or passengers on board.

“Due to high winds, it is not safe to recover the coach until tomorrow where it will be reassessed. Please avoid the area until further notice,” the statement continues.

The road will remain closed overnight and local diversions are being arranged by Mintlaw road policing unit and Aberdeenshire Council.

A spokeswoman for Stagecoach confirmed the incident involved one of their buses but could give no further details.
