A celebration of a special plant that heralds the first hint of spring was held in the grounds of an Aberdeenshire castle at the weekend.
The Scottish Snowdrop Festival, organised by the National Trust for Scotland (NTS), takes place every year at historic properties, gardens and other locations across the country.
It invites families to get up close and personal with the captivating white flowers, learn more about plant life and take part in arts and craft activities.
On Saturday, around 62 people took part in the festival at the Castle Fraser gardens, south of Kemnay.
Children of all ages – and grown ups too – enjoyed spotting the flowers throughout the gardens and painting pictures of them.
Ruth Wardle, the head gardener at the castle, said she was delighted to see so many families enjoying the great outdoors and participating in the celebration.
She said: “We weren’t expecting lots of visitors due to the weather, but it really was a really successful day.
“Castle Fraser is just a beautiful place and we love events like this that help to bring in even more visitors.”
