A renowned Peterhead DJ who staged hugely popular club nights in the 80s will be returning to the town for a one-off party to raise money for charity.
Trevor Lazaro was one of the top disc jockeys for seven years during the iconic decade of music at Chaplins nightclub in Peterhead.
Now living in Somerset and a radio presenter for United DJs Radio, he only returns to the north-east sporadically but claims to always be recognised and asked “can you do a reunion night?”
So, with the support of the Palace Hotel, Mr Lazaro will be releasing tickets this week for his Chaplins Return to the Future 40th Reunion – marking 40 years since the 1980s.
Mr Lazaro said: “Back then I was the token black man in the town and everyone seemed to know who I was – even now when I come back people stop me in the street as they recognise me.
“Everyone kept asking for a return gig so I thought we should give it more of a purpose and get involved with some local charities.
“I’d heard about Shirley’s Space, so 50% is going to them and then one of the special DJs coming to do a set on the night, Neil Dalrymple, is travelling from Doha and asked if the other share could go to CLAN in memory of his father.”
The night will feature music including 70s disco, 80s funk and soul, garage, house and early 90s classic dance.
Tickets for the old style dinner and dance club night will be on sale for £20 per person in Peterhead shops or from Eventbrite for Chaplins Back to the Future on May 2.
