A man who died in a fatal collision on an Aberdeenshire road has been named by police.
The incident involved a crash between a blue Seat Leon collided with a grey Renault Captur at 1.45pm on Saturday on the B9077 Kirkton of Durris to Aberdeen road, near to Nether Balfour.
A statement released by police said: “We can confirm that the man who died following a two-vehicle collision on the B9077 on Saturday, February 8, 2020, was Daniel Gilfillan, aged 67, from Portlethen.
“Daniel’s family appreciate everyone’s kind messages of support for their beloved husband, father and grandad. They ask that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.”
Sergeant Peter Henderson from the Road Policing Department added: “Our inquiries into the collision are ongoing and I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and who hasn’t spoken to police to do so.
“I am particularly keen to identify a red car which may have passed the location travelling towards Aberdeen around the time of the collision.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number PS-20200208-1857.”
