An impressive new sports facility is to be created at an Aberdeen private school.
Robert Gordon College has applied to build the three-storey hall on the grounds of its science block on Schoolhill.
In December, the school lodged plans to tear down the building and erect the modern sports block.
If approved it will offer between 5,000 to 5,500 square metres of space across the three floors.
The current PE and sports facility was built in the early 20th Century, when the subject was new to the curriculum and the school roll was much smaller.
At present, it houses one basketball, netball and badminton court, a swimming pool and changing facilities.
Documents submitted with the sports hall application add that public consultation on the plans will take place later in the year.
On May 1 and 2, members of the public will be able to look at the plans at events in the The Craig Centre for Performing Arts, located within the Robert Gordon’s College Campus.
The May 1 exhibition will run from 2-7.30pm with the initial hour (2-3pm) reserved for community councils, elected representatives and what the application describes as “key stakeholders”.
The May 2 exhibition will run between 10am and 3pm.
The document adds: “There is a need to emphasise to communities that the plans presented to them… may alter in some way before the final proposal is submitted.”
