An Aberdeen cafe, which has been serving customers for years, has closed its doors unexpectedly.
Some customers of The Coffee House on Gaelic Lane were told today that the business has folded.
The shop’s lights were off and doors locked during what would have been a busy lunchtime rush.
Having opened in 2010, the cafe garnered scores of positive reviews.
In recent weeks, however, customers had complained online about slow service and a “sudden” price increase.
The cafe would often play host to open mic nights for local singers and was also a venue for the Aberdeen Ministry of Crafts fair.
It was next due to host the handmade craft market on Saturday, March 7.
Organisers of the monthly gathering posted online saying they were “extremely disappointed and upset” by the news of the closure.
They added: “Therefore unfortunately our March event is cancelled.
“In the next few days we will be in touch with all traders who received confirmation emails to attend our March event.
“We will of course refund everyone who has already made payment.”
Ward councillor Michael Hutchison said: “The Coffee House was a lovely wee place that always seemed to be busy when I saw it.
“I’m sorry to hear it may have closed down and I’m sure a lot of people will be disappointed if this is the case.”
