Aberdeenshire curlers are hosting a special concert to raise much-needed funds after their clubhouse was destroyed in a blaze.
The Vale of Alford Curling Club lost its base in 2015 after a fire broke out and destroyed 140 years of history.
Among the items lost in the blaze were 40 sets of curling stones, valued between £40,000 and £50,000.
Since the destruction five years ago, secretary and treasurer Allan Taylor said the group had been “struggling to get back on their feet” and hopes the concert of traditional Scottish music on Sunday will help secure the funding needed to complete the final works.
Mr Taylor recently released his CD titled “I Gaed Up Bi Alford” and will performing songs from it with accordionist Graeme Mitchell and fiddler Neil Dawson.
The event will be held in the Tullynessle Hall from 2pm, and all proceeds from tickets bought will go towards the completion of the clubhouse.
He said: “We’ve got the building up, but we only have half the lights working.
“After so long, we’re nearly done and we just need a final boost to get us there.
“We’ll need about £2,000 to £3,000 to get the last bits and bobs finalised.
“I hope people can come along and support us.”
The group are also accepting donations to hand out as prizes for their raffle.
