Aberdeen City Council is in the running to be named as Britain’s best council – and is the only Scottish contender.
The Granite City local authority is going head-to-head with Ardur and Worth, Brent, Bristol, Calderdale and Hull.
Aberdeen has also been shortlisted in the community involvement and campaign of the year categories.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on March 18.
Council co-leader Jenny Laing pointed to recent multi-million-pound investments like P&J Live and the Art Gallery redevelopment as part of the reason for the recognition.
She said: “The vision for Aberdeen is for a place where everyone can prosper and we work closely with community planning partners towards realising shared ambitions.
“The investment being made in infrastructure, both in terms of showcase developments such as TECA and Aberdeen art gallery as well as in communities with new schools, (community centres) and thousands of council houses is matched by a commitment to social inclusion and inclusive economic growth, designed to tackle inequalities and open up opportunities.”
Council chief executive Angela Scott said: “The city and the council is in a period of significant transformation and our aim is to drive positive change in every aspect of our operations.
“It is a reward for the efforts of the thousands of council staff who are at the heart of everything we do.”
