Residents last night welcomed the prospect of a new development at a consultation in Royal Deeside.
Kirkwood Homes, working with Inchmarlo Farms Ltd, has submitted a proposal of application notice to Aberdeenshire Council.
It requests that the houses at their Inchmarlo site be occupied before work on a long-awaited hotel is completed.
Their plans for the new hotel and a golf course have already been approved by the local authority.
At least 25% of the proposed 100 homes would be affordable housing.
Inchmarlo resident Paul Moynagh said: “I can’t see any argument against it at this stage.
“My only issue is that the affordable housing is farthest away from the road, and these typically would be less likely to have cars, so it is not ideal for them to be that far away from town.”
Margot Kennedy added that she was happy with the development and argued “the sooner the houses are built, the sooner the hotel will be.
“I think it will do good things for the area and I’m looking forward to using the pool at the hotel.”
Allan Rae, land director at Kirkwood Homes Ltd, said: “We are delighted to welcome 85 people to our public exhibition.
“The feedback which we have received, along with the various technical assessments, will importantly help shape and inform the proposals.
“We will continue to liaise with the community councils, local residents, councillors and Aberdeenshire Council as we progress to submission of the application.’’
