Animal sanctuaries around the north-east are closing to the public to curb the spread of the virus.
Mrs Murray’s Home for Stray Dogs and Cats in Aberdeen is minimising non-essential visits to the site for the next two weeks, and have confirmed there will be no viewing during this time.
For their home boarding clients, anyone due to collect their pet must first call reception.
Willows Animal Sanctuary near Strichen is now closed to the public and is asking for donations to help them continue to care for their furry friends.
A statement from the charity said: “We have had to close to the public and this is a major source of income that has been lost for Willows.
“We need your help so that we can keep the sanctuary safe.”
They are asking people to sponsor an animal, pay hay costs or make donations to support them through “a difficult time.”
New Arc in Ellon is also asking all visitors to phone in advance of their arrival and requests all members of the public and volunteers delivering animals to wait at the farm gate, where a sign with instructions for handover will be.
In addition, when the New Arc responds to emergency call outs the public are being asked to avoid direct contact with the staff and volunteers who attend.
