Safety improvements are due to be made on the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road after concerns were raised about the effectiveness of speed cameras.
It is two years since the £2 million camera system went up on the Stonehaven to Dundee stretch of the route, with then transport secretary Humza Yousaf declaring it would “help save lives”.
Last month the Press and Journal revealed that the number of collisions on the stretch had increased since then.
At Holyrood, north-east MSP Liam Kerr asked what “new measures” were being enacted to achieve a reduction.
The Scottish Government has revealed a “range” of investigations are currently being carried out, with the aim of starting works later this year.
Some “are being considered” to determine whether there is a “need for further interventions going forward”.
Mr Kerr added: “The A90 remains one of the most dangerous roads in Scotland and more needs to be done to make it safer.”
