Aberdeen City Council has announced that precautionary steps will be taken to help protect the essential services that keep the community running.
The authority has said that staff could be relocated or shared doing similar duties among other services.
Measures have been taken to minimise the spread of the growing Covid-19 pandemic, while ensuring that core services will continue to be carried out.
The number of staff has also been reduced as people with medical conditions or special circumstances are heeding the Scottish Government’s advice to self-isolate.
Core services will continue to operate across the Granite City, such as gritting on road surfaces, traffic coordination and traffic lights being put in place when needed to assist emergency services.
Emergency repair work and health and safety maintenance to council properties will remain uninterrupted, as will bin collections.
The authority will ensure that HGV-licensed drivers, crematorium and burial service workers, and essential janitors and school canteen staff remain at capacity.
Essential health, environmental protection and trading standards services will also continue.
Council chiefs have, however, confirmed that whilst cremations will continue to take place, new bookings for chapel services at Aberdeen Crematorium won’t be taken from Monday to help stem the spread of the respiratory illness.
People attending any crematorium services scheduled for next week have been asked to adhere to advice regrading social distancing and self isolating.
