Coronavirus: Aberdeen bakery appeals for outlet help
ByEmma Morris
An Aberdeen social enterprise baker has appealed for assistance in finding places to supply its services.
The Breadmaker on Rosemount Viaduct has already shut its cafe due to the coronavirus outbreak, however it has said it’s at risk of suspending operations altogether as most of its produce went towards cafes and restaurants that are now shut.
The company has been in operation since 2006, and provides bread and confectionary, while also offering training, educational and social activities to adults with learning disabilities who are excluded from mainstream society.
CEO Donald Anderson said he has three qualified bakers and other staff, who can now provide a valuable additional source of supply of basic food to the public in this situation.
He has appealed for any food outlets, including supermarket chains or individual stores, to contact him or staff if they can provide an outlet for the products which will both assist customers and ease the strain on national supply lines.
