Police have launched an investigation into the sudden and unexplained death of a man in Aberdeenshire.
Officers were called to Greig Place in Stonehaven shortly before 9.30am today, and paramedics also attended.
Residents in the area reported seeing several police officers surrounding a building block in the morning.
An onlooker said there were police vans and cars in attendance, with officers going into the corner property.
It is understood the death is not being treated as suspicious, and no arrests have been made.
But a police spokeswoman added that inquiries to establish the cause of death were still ongoing.
Detective Sergeant Stephen Beattie, from north-east CID, said: “Police were called around 9.25am to the Greig Place area of Stonehaven, following the sudden death of a man.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if they would prefer to remain anonymous.
