A Scottish food ingredient manufacturer is collaborating with a distillery to make hand sanitiser.
Macphie, which is based at Glenbervie in Aberdeenshire, will team up with Loch Lomond Distillery to make and distribute the disinfectant to hospitals and care homes during a nationwide shortage.
With production starting last week, the first batch of 11,000 products will be bottled this week.
Macphie’s chief executive, Andy Stapley, said: “We’re facing difficult times right now and we want to do everything we can to help the people fighting to get us through this pandemic.
“Hand sanitiser has been flagged as an important tool in combatting the coronavirus and I’m proud that Macphie is part of this collaboration. We will continue to honour this commitment for as long as possible.”
