Golf club applies for court action over travellers

Bosses at the Royal Aberdeen Golf Club have applied for a court order to a have a camp of travellers removed from their land.
The group pitched up in the overflow car park yesterday afternoon, sparking worries that the forthcoming Scottish Open – due to start on July 10 – might be affected.
However Ronnie MacAskill, Director of Golf at the Bridge of Don course, said he was confident that the prestigious event would not be hampered.
“We started the process of trying to get our car park back,” he said.
“The group themselves haven’t caused damage there, we’ve had no trouble of any kind.
“They are not on the golf course and this will not in any way disrupt the Open.”
