Lifeboat called to help stranded yacht

A lifeboat was sent from Aberdeen after a yacht broke down in the North Sea this morning.

The vessel raised the alarm after it became stranded between the city and Montrose at around 1am.

An Aberdeen Coastguard spokesman said: “It got its propeller caught on some rope.

“There was two people on board. The lifeboat went out and towed them into Aberdeen.

“They arrived at about 6am.”
