A common seal has astounded people by resting up a tree.
The seal apparently enjoys regular snoozes on a fallen tree on the River Don in Aberdeen, say passers by.
The dozing animal was photographed by Jamie Durent.
British Divers Marine Life Rescue, who were alerted to the seal’s plight, said: “The seal looked in good condition and returns to the water when the river level rises.”
Local Kate Stokes said: “This is a common sight on that tree, watching them get up there is hilarious,” while Walter Innes added: ” it has been doing that for weeks”.
And Mary Wake said: “He’s obviously making up for the lack of humans disturbing him.”
Seal haul-outs are locations on land where seals come ashore to rest, moult or breed. Hauling-out typically occurs between periods of foraging activity.
